Women’s Health Supplements – Caution

Women's Health Supplements - choose wisely
Women’s Health Supplements

Women’s Health Supplements.  Over the past few years, supplements have been all the rage.  This has created a double edged sword.  On one hand, many “miracle cures” are being advertised and sold.  Often there is little to no evidence for their effectiveness.  On the other hand, it has given another viable option to stay healthy.  It is possible, with the right supplements, to support a healthy functioning body.  A healthy functioning body is less likely to be sick.  A healthy functioning body is less likely to need risky drugs or surgery.

One of the top issues for natural supplements is Women’s Health.  Many women seek natural supplements for a variety of issues.  These range from body temperature, mood swings, bloating, bowel problems, irritability, cramping, headaches and crying spells.

For some of these supplements, there is very little research supporting them.  For others, there is strong research against them.  Here is a list of common Women’s Health Supplements:

There is strong research showing DHEA is not effective in supporting women’s health.  While Black Cohosh as shown to be effective, it can have negative effects on the Liver.  Don Quai is believed to support healthy body temperature.  The research shows it has little to no effect.  St. Johns wart does seem to be effective in supporting healthy mood.  However, it may cause anxiety, headaches, muscle cramps, sweating, weakness and skin irritation.

Obviously, “Pop & Pray” doesn’t work…

When it comes to supplements to support healthy function, do not rely on the pop and pray method.  The right natural health care provider will seek to find the source of stress.  Then dietary coaching and effective supplementation are used to address the source of stress.

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition and Chiropractic, we do just that.  Our scientific testing includes a 24 hour urine analysis, blood chemistries, a fastening nutrition test and Bio Impedance analysis.  This is the same analysis used by NASA and the Cancer Instituted of America.  We will then develop a safe, natural and effective plan to help support women’s health.

If you need more Help

If you have women’s health concerns, call us to set up a consultation.  In fact, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Then I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life. I will even do some preliminary testing as well as Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA). In fact did you know that both NASA and Cancer Treatment Centers of America rely on BIA? These tests help me determine if you are a good candidate for care. If you’re not, we’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.
