Positive Thinking and Health: This episode is a followup from the previous airing of Dr. Andy’s Wellness Corner. In the prior episode, Dr. Andy goes through every organ and system in the body. He then details how stress negatively impacts each organ and system. For this airing, Dr. Andy gives a brief but informative synopsis of stress and health, but then Dr. Andy focuses on how to develop a belief system aimed at lower stress. Lower stress, of course, will keep you happier and healthier.
Dr. Andy effectively uses the analogy of a ship at see to explain the key components to a healthy belief system. He describes innate values as the compass, beliefs as your map and your behaviors has the destination. He then details the importance of making sure your values, beliefs, self talk and behavior are all congruent. Additionally, he outlines the problems that can arise if these critical components are not congruent.
The episode continues with how to develop belief systems and why they may change over time, whereas innate values do not. He also teaches you how you do have control over your self talk. And, since your self talk governs your behaviors, you have control over them as well.
The episode concludes with how to view the world in a positive light, the affirmation process, and embark on this amazing journey.
