Obesity Causes Low Back Pain

Obesity Causes Low Back Pain.  While this fact seems quite obvious, research published in 2018 actually backs up this claim.  With obesity on the rise, paired with an out of control opioid epidemic, America needs a safe drug-free alternative.  Fortunately, spinal adjustments and enzyme nutrition can help.

Obesity Causes Low Back Pain.  Obesity is on the rise in the United States.  Sadly, its growth continues to increase at an alarming rate.  Unfortunately, so is our opioid crisis.  Is there a connection?  As a matter of fact, research from 2018 shows a clear connection between back pain and obesity.  If this pain gets bad enough, some sufferers may turn to opioid medication for pain relief.  However, there is another solution.

In May of 2018, JMPT published research demonstrating the connection between obesity and low back pain.  In fact, the study concluded the following.  “Overweight and obesity were associated with increased odds of low back pain.”

Unfortunately, this can create a viscous cycle.  Sadly, as you gain wait, you feel more pain.  To make matters worse, as you feel more pain, you exercise less because of that pain.  As time goes on, the cycle continues until it spins out of control. Later on in life, you go to the doctor only to find out you’re suffering from all of the complications obesity causes.  These problems include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and many more.  Conversely, the key is to take care of this problem long before these problems arise.

The Safe and Natural Approach

Just how do we take care of this problem safely and naturally?  In our office, we use a combination of traditional or low-force chiropractic care, enzyme nutrition, dietary changes and custom tailored exercise program.  First, the right specific spinal corrections can relieve your low back pain allowing you to exercise.  In fact, spinal adjustments can even improve your athletic performance.  Did you know that research from the Journal of the American Medical Association reports that chiropractic is more effective than medicine at treating pain.  On top of that, the right dietary changes paired with the right enzyme supplements can help your body properly eliminate chronic inflammation.  This is the leading cause of obesity.  Lastly, other enzymes can even help your body break down fat properly.

If You’re Concerned

Are you overweight and suffer from back pain, we may be able to help without drugs or surgery.  If that sounds good, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120.  Then I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life. I will even do some preliminary testing as well as Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA). In fact, did you know that both NASA and Cancer Treatment Centers of America rely on BIA? These tests help me determine if you are a good candidate for care. If you’re not, we’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.

Chiropractic Helps Weight Loss

Chiropractic helps weight loss.  In a world of gimmick diets, and supplements that come with false hopes and promises, Americans are desperate to lose weight.  While many seek weight loss to improve appearance and self-esteem, many of our nation’s top killers start with obesity.  In fact, these chronic diseases include diabetes, heart disease, heart failure, high blood pressure, and many more.

Chiropractic Helps Weight Loss.  In fact, new studies show that chiropractic helps weight loss.  Surprised?  In order to explain why, I’ll need to take you on a little journey.  Do you know what part of your brain is responsible for weight loss?  Remember that your brain has to parts.  First is the conscious part, where you think about things, and act based on those thoughts.  Second, however, is the autonomic nervous system.  This is the part of your brain that runs your body in the background.  In fact, it constantly makes adjustments in reaction to changes both in our bodies and in the outside world.  In fact, it’s called the Autonomic Nervous System, or ANS.

Your “Automatic” Brain

However, the ANS has two parts.  Furthermore, these parts work opposite each other.  The first is our fight or flight system.  In fact, it’s called the Sympathetic Nervous System or SNS.  Your brain turns this system up when you are more active.  In fact, it increases blood flow to the limbs & muscles, and releases chemicals into our blood that give us more energy.  While it was designed for emergencies, we also use it to burn calories when we exercise.  Additionally, the SNS also improves our metabolism.

Conversely, the other part is the calming part.  Actually, it’s called the Parasympathetic Nervous System, or PNS.  The PNS works opposite the fight or flight system.  This system “mellows” us out and relaxes us.  How does it work?  Well, it diverts energy away from our limbs and muscles and into things like digestion and elimination.  When the SNS is revved up, the PNS is automatically turned down and vis. versa.

As a result, to lose weight, our fight or flight system needs to work properly.  According to Chiropractic Journal, chiropractic care helps your fight or flight system work properly.  Additionally, research from Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism shows that improved  SNS function helps you lose weight.

A Unique Combination of Nutrition, Chiropractic, & Exercise

In fact, this is precisely our focus at Redmond Ridge Nutrition.  We use the right dietary changes in combination with enzyme supplements designed to support health fat breakdown and body metabolism.   Of course, we also help your ANS work properly through specific spinal corrections.  These adjustments are both safe and precise.  However, we also can use either traditional or low-force techniques depending on the patient.  Since every case is unique, we only make recommendations after a thorough examination and nutritional testing.  Furthermore, our testing is based on sound medical principles.  Once we make those dietary changes, we stand behind you as your coach teaching you how to eat to your own genetic strengths.  If you like, we can use our 30 years of fitness instruction to help you develop a safe and effective exercise program.

Do you suffer from obesity?  Have you tried everything?  Are you concerned about the long-term health consequences?  If so, please don’t wait. Give us a call at 425-868-0120 and set up a consultation or contact us on the web. I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life. Then we can schedule a thorough examination.  At that time, I’ll order or examine any images and perform a thorough examination so we can discover the cause of your suffering.  After that we can either put the best plan in place or provide you with the right referral.

Artificial Sweeteners Make You Fat

Artificial Sweeteners Make You Fat.  A while ago I wrote an article about how diet soft drinks cause sugar cravings.  Sadly, these cravings increase body fat.  However, did you know that any artificial sweetener can make you fatter?  As Americans try and turn to healthier food choices, it becomes crucial to read the research and become a smart consumer.

Artificial Sweeteners Make You Fat.  So, I think I can guess what you’re thinking.  How do artificial sweeteners actually make you fat?  Well, that’s great question.  Before I answer this important question, allow me to delve into the research.  This more recent research comes from the annual Experimental Biology conference in San Diego.  Sadly, this excess fat leads to many life-shortening illnesses.  These maladies include diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, cancer and more.

Most recently, animal research presented at the annual Experimental Biology conference in San Diego again confirmed that artificial sweeteners raise your risk of obesity and diabetes.  Sadly, there are two crucial reasons these toxic sweeteners cause you to gain more fat.  First, these sweeteners actually create sugar cravings.  Why?  When you eat or drink artificial sweeteners, you basically told your brain that you’re giving it sugar.  But guess what?  You didn’t give your body sugar.  Eventually your brain figures this out and starts to crave sugar more than before.  As a result, you will likely eat some sugar, which will cause weight gain.

However, there’s another reason.  Would it surprise you if I told you that the artificial sweetener itself causes weight gain?  How?  Well it causes the same end result as eating sugar.  The only difference is that it goes down a different pathway to get there.  Here is just one citation as to the continually mounting evidence.  However, there’s tons more research out there.  Without going into the technical mumbo jumbo, basically, artificial sweeteners trick your brain and body into storing fat.

What’s worse, is that artificial sweeteners also destroy your gut microbiome.  Research also suggests this microbiome can help you maintain healthy body mass.  Of course, if you have healthy body mass, you won’t have excess fat.

If you need Help

While I don’t treat diseases (including obesity), I can help support healthy body mass and composition.  As a result, this includes helping you to shed that extra body fat.  I accomplish this through a customized exercise program, dietary coaching, and the right enzyme supplements. Remember that healthy body mass is not just something you attain to look better, it helps you live a longer higher quality life.  It also drastically lowers the risk of many deadly diseases.

Are you concerned about your body mass?  Does it affect your job, family or fun? Are you worried about the long term affects?  If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Then I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life. Sports and Junk Food – Junk food Sponsors our Sports

Sports and Junk Food: Our professional athletes are in tip top shape.  In fact, they exercise regularly, and stay on a very strict diet.  As a part of that diet, they have to avoid junk food.  Don’t you find it ironic that over three fourths of their sponsors promote that very same junk food?

Sports and Junk Food

It’s time for the big game.  In fact, you host a huge party at your house.  You spared no expense.  In fact, there’s a spread on your table that could feed an army.  It’s time.  The athletes come out onto the field, court, or rink.  Look at how in shape they are.  Meanwhile, everyone sits down in a comfortable couch or chair.  You fill your cup with beer or soda, and load your plate with chips, nachos, and dips.

Major Sports Promote Unhealthy Eating

According to Pediatrics Journal, published recently in 2018, over 76% of all major sporting ads and sponsors are for soft drinks or junk food.  That’s right, sports and junk food seem to go hand in hand.  Sadly, is these ads target our youth.  In fact, the sports programs sampled in the study had the most viewership between the ages of 2 and 17 years of age.

Just what, exactly, does this mean?  Well, it means that media is teaching your children unhealthy eating habits at an early age.  Furthermore, media reinforces those habits as your child ages. Now your child is a young adult.  Since these habits developed over a long period of time, they’re even harder to break.  As a result, like smoking, not starting is the best advice.

Obesity Causes Disease

It’s crucial to remember that chronic health problems are growing in America.  These problems include heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes.  Sadly, the number one cause of all of these diseases is obesity.  While the athletes you watch are avoiding these foods, your children are sitting on the couch watching while eating these foods.  Ironic, isn’t it?

Eat to your Strengths

In our office, we take a scientific approach to healthy eating.  In fact, our methods can help teach you and your children how to eat to your genetic strengths.  Together with the right enzymes you can maximize your nutrition.  As a result, you can reduce food cravings.  In fact, many of my patients no longer crave junk food.  Additionally, the right enzymes help your body digest, absorb and use the vital nutrients from your food.

Are you concerned about your eating habits?  Or, are your children eating too much junk food?  If so, don’t wait.  In fact, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Heart Healthy Foods and Enzymes – The Total Heart Health Package

Most people fail to realize that heart health is about more than avoiding fast foods and processed foods.  In fact, there are actually heart healthy foods you can eat that support healthy blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and even prevent obesity.  Why is this important?  Because obesity, inflammation, and are the cardinal warning signs that heart disease may lie in your future.  So here is a list of heart friendly foods that support heart health and healthy body mass.

Oats and Barley

The first two heart healthy foods are oats and barley.  According to Pub Med, 2009, not only do these foods reduce cholesterol production in the liver, but they promote the creation of healthy short chain fatty acids.  Additionally, they show promise for supporting healthy immune system function.  For those of you who like the technical details, oats and barley contain a chemical called Beta-glucans.  Beta-glucans are polysaccharides occurring in the bran of barley and oats.  However, be sure that your oats are organic or steel cut.  Why is this important?  because otherwise the food company probably used flour to keep them from sticking together.  Flour, of course, is a simple carb that is notorious for causing inflammation, weight gain and high cholesterol.

Certain Seafoods

Other heart healthy foods include fatty fish.  These include salmon, albacore tuna, mackerel, herring, lake trout, and sardines.  In fact, they also include crustaceans such as lobster, oysters and squid.  Furthermore, the high protein content in these seafood morsels provide a host of other health benefits.  These foods contain health-protective omega-3s, specifically the long-chain variety known as LC omega-3, which contain eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosapentaenoic acid (DPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).  All of these fatty acids lower risk of heart attack, and stroke according to Pub Med, 2010.

Additionally, human clinical trials show long-chain omega-3s to be very heart and brain healthy.  These trials strongly show that healthy omega 3’s help prevent heart attacks by helping the heart maintain its rhythm. Studies also show that they also make blood less likely to clot, lower blood pressure, keep blood vessels healthy and less likely to narrow, reduce triglycerides and lower inflammation.  However, a high simple carb diet will not only stop this process, but reverse it as well.  See my previous article for more information.

Where do Enzyme fit in?

So, you’re eating a healthy diet.  You exercise properly and regularly.  How in the world can enzymes support healthy heart function?  I’m glad you asked.  In fact, they support healthy heart function two ways.  First, the right digestive enzyme supplements help your body break down, digest, and absorb the fatty acids from omega-3’s and the protein and complex carbs from barley and oats.  Afterwards, the right systemic enzyme supplements help your heart, brain and blood vessels utilize this vital nutrition.  Additionally, the right enzyme supplements support healthy low inflammation levels.  So, how do we know what enzyme supplements are right for you?  Through testing that is scientifically sound and based on fundamental medical principles.

Would you like to know more?

Are you concerned about the health of your heart?  Maybe you’re concerned about a parent, grandparent, friend or loved one.   Does it affect work, family or fun?  Would you like to find out how to support healthy heart function safely and effectively without drugs or surgery?  If so, contact us and set up a consultation or call us at 425-868-0120.  I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life.  I will even do some preliminary testing as well as Bio Impedance Analysis, which is trusted by both NASA and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.  This will help me determine if you are a good candidate for care.  If you’re not, we’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.

Sugar Addicts – Overloaded America

Sugar Addicts – Overloaded America.  Do you know how much sugar you’re eating?  Are you aware of all of the health problems that arise from eating too much?  Have you heard about how addictive sugar actually is?  In fact the stats I’m about to report are absolutely shocking…

Sugar Addicts – Overloaded America.  Did you know that in 1812, the average American just like you consumed about 45 grams of sugar every five days?  That happens to be the amount you’d find in a single 12 oz can of soda today.  However, if you fast forward to 2012, the average American like you consumes about 765 grams of sugar every five days.  In fact, that’s a 17-fold increase.  However, most people are unaware of the serious dangers that arise from this drastic increase.

To put it in perspective, in the 1820’s the Americans consumed less than 20 pounds of sugar each year.  Once again, let’s fast forward to 2012.  Furthermore, we now consume over 130 pounds of sugar per year.  Worried yet?  In your life time you’ll eat about 3550 pounds of sugar.  That adds up to about 1,767,900 skittles.  To make matters worse, the American Heart Association recommends a maximum intake of 9.5 teaspoons of sugar per day.  Meanwhile, the average adult eats about 22 teaspoons per day while the average child eats about 32 teaspoons per day.  Lastly, Forbes reports that sugar is just as addictive as cocaine.

Sugar Causes Disease

Like cocaine, sugar can lead to a host of health problems.  Unfortunately, these problems are quite serious.  In fact they include obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, depression, fatigue, chronic pain, skin problems, hardened arteries, violent behavior, nervous tension, mental disorders, acne, and much much more.  To make matters worse, high fructose corn syrup is the worst kind, and food manufacturers hide HFCS in your food.

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition & Chiropractic, we can help your body recover from sugar overload.  Just how do we achieve this?  We implement specific customized dietary changes, and the right enzyme supplements based on your test results. Of course our testing is scientific and based on sound medical principals. We can even design an exercise program just for you.

Don’t Wait

Are you concerned about your health?  Perhaps you’re worried about a friend or family member?  Do your problems prevent you from doing what you love?   If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation.
