Enzymes work with Medicine.  Let’s say you’re riding your bike.  All of a sudden, you hit a deep pot hole you didn’t notice.  The bike comes crashing down and you break your arm.  Now what?  Is it time to go buy some supplements?  Maybe you should get your spine adjusted.  Of course, the obvious answer is the right one.  Call 911 and get to the E.R.

Remember that a broken bone is a medical emergency requiring medical intervention.  When you get to the hospital, doctors will x-ray your arm and give you pain medicine for pain and swelling.  If appropriate they will also set the bone.  Once the emergency care is complete, these doctors will refer you to an orthopedist who will determine what type of care is necessary.  Do you need a cast, pins and screws, or does your situation require surgery?  He or she will then perform the necessary procedure.

The “Side Effects”

Now you’re walking around with your arm in a sling.  You’re also taking pain medications and anti inflammatory meds.  This is where natural care can work together with your medical treatment.  In fact, here’s how…

First the right diet and enzyme supplements can help your body heal the broken bones properly.  Additionally, other enzyme supplements can help your body properly reduce inflammation.  Lastly, while they are necessary, the medicine you took put stress on your liver, kidneys, and/or digestive system.  The right enzyme supplements can help your body cleanse itself from these harmful toxins.

We’re Part of the Team

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition, we will work along side your medical team to help you restore your health safely, naturally and effectively.  In fact, we may even use diagnostic imaging or lab tests ordered by your medical team.  In fact, we can even call them on the phone or send correspondence if we need to coordinate your care.

Would you like to know how we can support a healthy healing process in your body?  If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Then I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life. I will even do some preliminary testing as well as Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA). In fact, did you know that both NASA and Cancer Treatment Centers of America rely on BIA? These tests help me determine if you are a good candidate for care. If you’re not, we’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.

Metabolic Enzymes and Digestive Enzymes

Metabolic Enzymes and Digestive Enzymes.  When most people think of enzymes, they think of digestive health.  While your body has over 75,000 enzymes, only a handful deal with digestion.  Meanwhile, the rest help your body use vital nutrients to work properly and stay healthy.

Metabolic Enzymes and Digestive Enzymes.  So, what exactly are metabolic enzymes?  In order to explain this, let me give you an analogy.  This comparison will detail the vital role that both metabolic and digestive enzymes play in your  health and vitality.  OK, on with the story…

Building A House of Health

Let’s just say you are a general contractor, and you’re building a house.  Of course, that house needs certain building materials.  It needs lumber, drywall, nails, electrical wiring and many other raw goods.  After you look at the blueprints, you order the necessary supplies.  These supplies are the foods you eat, the supplements you take and the medications you use.  After you order the needed supplies, the various vendors deliver the materials to your warehouse.  Basically, you eat, drink or swallow your food, drink, supplements and meds.  Now they end up in your gut, which is the warehouse.

However, in order to build the house, you need to deliver these goods to the job site.  After all, they do no good at the warehouse, right?  So, your warehouse workers load the supplies on to a truck, and the truck delivers them to the job site.  In our example, these warehouse workers are digestive enzymes.

Once at the job site, however, will the house build itself?  Can you just drop off the materials and watch the house magically take shape?  Of course not.  Sadly, many think that is true inside their body.  If they eat it, somehow, magically, the vital nutrition will become part of you.  In both cases, you need workers on the job site to use the right materials the right way and assemble them in the right order to build your dream house.  The same thing is true in your body.  In your body, these workers are called metabolic enzymes.

Building a Healthier You

So, let’s rewind for a second and turn this back into a health and wellness example.  Let’s say you suffer from arthritis and are looking for nutritional support for healthy joint function.  The first thing you need to know is, what are joints made of?  Let me answer that for you.  Your body uses amino acids, vitamin c, and other nutrients to make and repair your joints.  Your body can also use popular supplements like glucosamine as well.  Since amino acids come from protein, you increase your protein intake.  Additionally, you supplement with the right amino acids, vitamin C and glucosamine.

Congratulations!  You just delivered the building materials to the warehouse.  Afterwards, how can you be sure your body will deliver them to the job site?  Additionally, how can you be sure your body will use them for joint health once at the job site?

With the right digestive enzymes, we can help your body digest these valuable nutrients for delivery to your joints.  Afterwards, we can use the right metabolic enzymes to help your body assemble those materials to support healthy joint repair and function.

However, this is only one example.  It’s important to remember that enzymes work this way for every type of nutrition, and for every aspect of your health.  These tasks range from brain health, heart health, hormone health, joint health, blood sugar health, digestive health, bone health, and much more.

Our Enzyme Nutrition Testing

This is why we focus on enzyme nutrition at Redmond Ridge Nutrition and Chiropractic.  In fact, enzymes are the only chemical in the body that can actually do work.  Sadly, as you age, your body’s ability to make enzymes decreases.  Using the right combination of digestive and metabolic enzyme supplements can help your body digest, absorb, make and use your nutrition properly to support health and vitality.

Are you concerned about your health?  Does it affect your job, family or fun?  If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Then I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life. The Root Cause of Disease

The Root Cause of Disease.  I’ll never forget the day I was hosting a workshop on heart health.  As you can imagine, this covers a host of topics.  During the workshop, I made it clear that I don’t treat any heart conditions.  On the other hand, my job is to support healthy heart function by finding the source of stress that caused the problem to begin with.  In fact, I use this approach when helping all of my patients.  As soon as I said that, a hand raised with the question, “what enzymes do you take for high blood pressure.”  Sadly, it seems my statement fell on deaf ears.

The Root Cause of Disease.  Too often, health care providers treat the condition, or the symptom.  Sadly, this even includes natural health care providers.  As a result, too many people are taking “this for that”.  While that sounds reasonable, which is preferable, treating the symptom or the cause?

Before I continue, I need to clarify that I do not treat any diseases or condition.  And actually, I consider this an advantage.  In fact, let’s use high blood pressure as an example.  The common medical solution is water pills and blood thinners.  However, these medications merely manage the condition.

Continuing with our example, can you think of several things that could lead to high blood pressure?  Let’s brain-storm together.  For starters, there’s diet.  Eating too much salt, sugar and even other spices lead to high blood pressure.  But what about emotional stress?  Worrying about that deal, or that promotion, or not getting laid off during a “reorg” can all lead to high blood pressure.  In fact, here’s an odd one, what about physical stress.  How can physical stress cause high blood pressure?  Physical stress causes pain and/or inflammation.  Sadly, either can lead to high blood pressure.

Did You Catch My Hint?

I hinted at something here.  Did you pick up on it?  All three causes are forms of stress. In fact, stress is the root cause of every disease.  In fact, as I stated earlier, stress has three forms.  These forms are emotional, nutritional and physical.  Addressing the stress, and helping the stressed part of your body work properly can help you avoid many chronic diseases.  This includes high blood pressure.  After all, stress is the root cause of disease.

Finding the Source of Stress

Regardless of the source of stress, Redmond Ridge Nutrition and Chiropractic can help identify the sources of stress in your body.  We accomplish this through testing methods that are scientific in nature, and based on sound medical principles.  Then we carefully select the right combination treatments.  These treatments may include enzyme nutrition, rehabilitative exercises, massage therapy and/or traditional or low force chiropractic care.  In fact, we may even help you with emotional stress with affirmations or a referral to a qualified provider.

Once again, I need to clarify that none of these treatments diagnose or treat disease.  Instead, we are dedicated to finding the source(s) of stress with pinpoint accuracy and helping those parts work properly with the right support.

Stress, The Root Cause of Disease

Have you visited doctor after doctor in search of answers to your suffering?  Are you sick and tired of the revolving door of medical treatment?  Perhaps you’re tired of being processed through the health care system like an object on a conveyor belt.  If so, don’t wait.  In fact, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Then I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life.  Together, we can determine if you are a good candidate for care. If you’re not, I’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.

Magnesium, the latest craze…

Magnesium, it’s the latest craze.  A few weeks ago, my wife went in for her annual checkup.  After a thorough evaluation, the facility wanted to sell her some magnesium.  I looked up the research and found it support the opposite aspects of healthy function that my wife needed.  A week later, I did a health presentation.  Before and after the presentation, the audience was rumbling about the wonders of magnesium.  It seems that magnesium is the new miracle cure, or is it…

Magnesium is the latest trend, but is it right for you?

Check out our radio show – Mondays 9-10 AM

AM 1150 KKNW, 1150kknw.com, or FM 98.9 HD band 3,

or on a radio app from your smart device

Magnesium seems to be the latest popular go to supplement.  Sadly, supplements follow fad trends just like fashion, music, and other forms of pop culture.  While there are benefits, there are also down sides.  The benefits are that we learn more about the ways a supplement may help support a healthy functioning body.  However, the down side is that the population blindly rushes to the store to take it, without knowing if it’s truly right for them.  It seems the need for hope has kept the old “snake oil” ideas alive.  And yes, I did say that to get your attention, there are situations where magnesium can support healthy function.  However, that does not make it a cure-all.

So, I know what you’re thinking.  It’s magnesium, it’s natural.  It can’t be bad, right?  It’s crucial to remember that just because something is natural does not mean it’s automatically harmless.  In fact, polar bear liver is totally natural, and high in vitamin A.  So, should we all eat polar bear liver?  Absolutely not.  It turns out that polar bear liver contains deadly amounts of vitamin A.  That’s right, if you eat polar bear liver, you will die of vitamin A poisoning.  And yet it’s 100% natural.

The Potential Benefits of Magnesium

Magnesium has shown strong evidence to support healthy sleep habits, especially in the elderly.  Furthermore, a magnesium deficiency can cause migraine headaches.  However, I must urge caution here.  There are many many causes for migraines, so if it helps you, GREAT! But do not expect it to be a miracle cure.  There are even some sources that state magnesium can help your body’s ability to reduce inflammation.  Additionally, many mental health professionals are using it to support healthy mood to combat depression.  But it’s also important to note that there is not research on this.  One study (and I want to emphasize 1 study) found magnesium helpful in supporting healthy blood sugar levels.  Another study showed it may help with constipation by pulling water into the intestines.  However, any powdered substance will do draw water into the digestive tract.

Magnesium: the Side effects

Just because something’s natural does not mean it is free of side effects.  In fact, the side effects of magnesium include (according to Elsevier):

  • Diarrhea
  • Flushing
  • Unusual sweating
  • Breathing problems
  • Low body temperature
  • Unusually weak or tired
  • Feeling faint or lightheaded, falls
  • Allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue

The role of Enzymes:

Even if magnesium is right for you, do you know what your body needs to make it work right?  That’s right, it’s enzymes.  Enzymes allow your body to properly use the vital nutrition it needs.  So how do you know what enzymes are right for you?  Different enzymes help your body perform different tasks properly.  As a result, your body requires specific testing to identify the source(s) of stress in your body.  Only then can the right combination of enzymes and dietary changes help support a properly working body.

If you want answers…

Have you been from doctor to doctor with no answers to your suffering?  Are you sick and tired if being processed through the American health care system like a piece of cattle?  Is everyone coming up with a different buzz word for your problems?  Do some think you’re even faking it?   Are you missing out on work family or fun? If so, contact us and set up a consultation or call us at 425-868-0120. I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life.

Enzyme Testing – Addressing the actual stress

Enzyme Testing – Addressing the actual stress: I recently had someone walk into my office.  She attended one of my workshops on muscle health recently.  She immediately asked what enzymes to take for chronic muscle pain…

Enzyme Testing: I really found that odd.  You see at all of my workshops I explain several things quite clearly.  First of all I don’t diagnose or treat any disease.  This, of course, includes chronic muscle pain.  Second, each case is unique.  As a result, I would need to perform tests to find the actual source of stress so I can implement a targeted plan that allows those stressed organs work better.  Otherwise we’re just guessing.  Do you remember what I call “taking this for that”?  It’s called “pop & pray.”  Lastly, it is likely that dietary changes are necessary and if she’s not willing to change her diet I probably can’t help her.

Sadly her response was “well I just want something for muscle pain, so if you won’t sell me anything I’ll just go somewhere else.”  I pointed to the GNC across the street and sincerely wished her the best.  However, I hope she realizes that anyone giving her supplements for muscle pain is violating FDA laws.

An “Instant” World

For better or worse, we live in an instant world.  Between social media, on demand entertainment on our mobile devices, and many other luxuries, our society wants things right away.  But when we’re talking about true wellness there are several key points to remember.

First of all, I don’t diagnose and treat disease.  I find stress in particular parts of the body and use a specific combination of enzyme supplements and dietary changes to help those parts work properly.  We accomplish this through scientific enzyme testing based on sound medical principles. Second, that stress may lie way upstream from where your symptoms are.  Why would I want to treat “muscle pain” when the muscle pain arose from the fact that your body has trouble using protein.  Protein carries calcium, and muscles need calcium to work properly.  Third, why would I guess at what supplements you should take rather than run actual proven tests?

Why we’re Different

Of course this is why I require a consultation before I’ll accept a patient.  I need to make sure my services are appropriate for that person.  I also need to know what tests I need to perform to get the right information.  It’s also important to get an overall picture of your nutritional health before we start, which is where BIO impedance analysis comes in.  It will reveal your body composition and overall cellular health.

Are you concerned about your health?  Does your ailment affect your work, family life or active lifestyle?  Would you like to support a healthy body safely, naturally and effectively?  Would you like to avoid drugs or surgery? If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. You can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120. Prescription Drug Scams.  In case you haven’t read my bio, you may not know that my Dad is a practicing medical doctor.  One day, when I was a young boy, I was working in his office filing charts.  All of a sudden, I heard my dad yelling at someone in his office.  A few seconds later, a man in a suit rushed out of my dad’s office.  As a matter of fact, he was still putting on his coat and organizing his things.  He also had frightened look on his face.  Now I’ve never seen my dad behave that way so I was absolutely shocked.  I looked at the office manager with concern.  And she said he was probably a prescription drug rep.

Background

Later that night, I asked my dad what happened.  He said that the man was a prescription drug rep.  He also said the man wanted to sign my dad up for an incentive program.  In fact, every time my dad prescribed a certain drug, he earned “points”.  At the end of the campaign, the doctors with the most points won an all expenses paid trip for four to the Superbowl that year.  My dad explained that he felt that was unethical, and kicked the guy out of his office, refusing to sign up.

My dad graduated from Hershey Medical School.  At that time, it was a very conservative school.  In fact they taught that doctors should only use medical intervention when absolutely necessary.  Unfortunately, times have changed.

The Dangers

While my dad was upstanding and ethical, how many doctors sign up for promotions like these?  When you’re receiving a scrip, how can you be sure that at some subconscious level, your doctor isn’t thinking about that promotion?  Even if he or she doesn’t mean to, that thought is still there.  If I owned a gym, and told my patients that in order to get better they needed to join my gym, I would lose my license.  The only way I wouldn’t is if I disclosed that I owned the gym, and provided other gyms as an option too.  In fact it’s called a conflict of interest.  So why does the government hold medical doctors and the prescription drug companies to a different standard?  Isn’t that a bigger conflict of interest?

The Drug Free Approach To Supporting a Health Body

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition and Chiropractic, we don’t use drugs to treat diseases.  Instead we use specific scientific testing to find the source of stress.  Then we use custom dietary changes along with specific enzyme supplements to support healthy function of stressed organs and systems.  We accomplish this safely, naturally and effectively without drugs or surgery.  And of course, no one bribes us with unethical kickbacks.  So you can rest assured we do not have any ulterior motives interfering with our clinical decisions.  So we aren’t affected by prescription drug scams.
