Chiropractic Helps Headaches…
Did you know that nearly 50 million American adults suffer from headaches, according to the National Institutes of Health? Sadly, many Americans turn to medication for temporary relief. The common go-to medications are acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, and ibuprofen. Not only do these medications only cover the symptom, but they also can cause serious damage to your organs. However, research shows that chiropractic care can help with headaches without harmful side effects.
Often, when I’m treating a patient, they will ask me if they should take any pain medication. Of course, I tell them it is out of my scope of practice to recommend taking, changing or stopping any medication. Of course, this includes both prescriptions and over the counter drugs. Many will drop the subject, but others will press on asking which is best. I try to make light of the situation by saying, “Well, which organ do you want to lose, your liver, your kidneys, or your stomach?” Of course, they often give me a puzzled look.
You see, Tylenol causes liver problems, ibuprofen causes kidney problems, and aspirin causes stomach problems. While taking them once in a while is probably OK, taking them regularly will cause these issues. Of course, all they really do is cover the symptom, and not the problem. In fact, let me give you a comparison.
Do You Do this with your Car?
Let’s say you’re driving in your care the check engine light comes on. What do you do? You take your car into the shop. Once there, the mechanic will find and fix the problem. However, you have another choice. You can simply disconnect the wire to the check engine light. If you do the light won’t come on any more. That’s like taking these medications for your headache. You basically covered the check engine light. Sadly, the underlying problem is still there. Of course, disconnecting your check engine light could also lead to more serious problems down the road. Unfortunately, the same is true for your health.

However, you have a choice. Research from around the world shows that chiropractic care can reduce headaches anywhere from 22 to 52%. The most recent research comes from the National Institute of Health in 2015.

In fact, we have several tools at our disposal. These natural effective tools include specific spinal corrections, massage therapy, customized stretching and enzyme nutrition. After a thorough consultation, we will figure out your needs and put the right pieces in place to support health and longevity.
