Chiropractic improves mood by helping your posture.  Research published in 2015 outlined how chiropractic helps fix your posture.  As a result, it can improve your mood.  In fact, the same research along with research from Harvard University both support this idea.  How is this possible?  According to the Amy Cuddy, from Harvard University, an upright posture actually makes you feel more powerful, confident and happy.

OK, I think I know what you’re thinking.  How in the world can your posture affect your mood?  According to the Harvard research, changing your posture actually changes your body chemistry.  In fact, it affects the very brain chemicals responsible for your mood.  However, I must also mention that the opposite is also true.  That is, your mood chemicals also affect your posture.

A Complete Solution

This is why we take a comprehensive approach at Redmond Ridge Nutrition & Chiropractic.  First, our precise spinal corrections help align the spine and take pressure off vital nerves to help you stand taller.  Our care includes both traditional spinal adjustments or low force corrections, depending on the patient.  Next, our home exercise program is custom tailored to correct your posture.  Lastly, the right diet and enzyme supplements can help your brain make the chemicals needed to support a happy mood.

Alzheimer’s and Vitamin D, Enzymes

Alzheimer’s and Vitamin D:  Alzheimer’s is a frustrating and limiting disease affecting our elderly.  This horrible disease prevents new memories from forming.  As a result, it is not only difficult for the patient, but their loved ones as well.  Recent research shows that there may be a link between low vitamin D and Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s and Vitamin D.  Alzheimer’s disease is on the rise in America.  Sadly, as our baby boomer generations age, this may be expected.  Alzheimer’s disease prevents new events and experiences from becoming long term memories.  Let me explain.  When you experience something new, it goes into your short-term memory.  If you use or remember it long enough, it will move into mid-term memory.  However, after enough recall, practice, or thought, these new experiences will eventually store themselves into long-term memory.  This means you can recall the information years later.

Research: Alzheimer’s and Vitamin D

If you suffer from Alzheimer’s disease, you cannot transform these new experiences into long-term memory.  However, you still remember everything you knew before the disease hit.  So, just how can vitamin D help, and where do enzyme play a role?  According to the World Health Organization, the Risk for Alzheimer’s is 122% greater if you have severely low vitamin D levels.  If your vitamin D levels are moderately low, you still have a 69% greater risk.

However, other strong research also exists.  The Journal of the American Medical Association(JAMA), PubMed, and Neurology Journal all published articles supporting the strong connection between Alzheimer’s and Low Vitamin D.   You must also understand that your body can only get a little vitamin D from your diet.  The rest has to come from sunlight exposure.  But there’s another crucial step.

Enzymes and Vitamin D

Just what is that crucial step?  It’s enzymes.  In fact, enzymes play two key roles.  First, since Vitamin D is a healthy fat, the right digestive enzymes can help you digest and absorb Vitamin D properly.  Second, your body requires certain metabolic enzymes to help your body use vitamin d for brain and nerve health.

In fact, according to the Journal of Gerontology:  “Vitamin D is primarily synthesized in the skin upon exposure to sunlight; smaller amounts are obtained through dietary intake. More recently, enzymes responsible for the synthesis of its active form have been found to be distributed throughout the human brain.”

The Enzyme Advantage

This is why we focus on enzyme at Redmond Ridge Nutrition and Chiropractic.  In fact, enzymes are the only chemical in the body that can actually do work.  Sadly, as you age, your body’s ability to make enzymes decreases.  Using the right combination of digestive and metabolic enzyme supplements can help your body digest, absorb, make and use Vitamin D properly to support healthy brain function.

Are you concerned about your brain health?  Does it affect your job, family or fun? Are you worried about the long term affects?  If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. Sugar Addicts – Overloaded America

Sugar Addicts – Overloaded America.  Do you know how much sugar you’re eating?  Are you aware of all of the health problems that arise from eating too much?  Have you heard about how addictive sugar actually is?  In fact the stats I’m about to report are absolutely shocking…

Sugar Addicts – Overloaded America.  Did you know that in 1812, the average American just like you consumed about 45 grams of sugar every five days?  That happens to be the amount you’d find in a single 12 oz can of soda today.  However, if you fast forward to 2012, the average American like you consumes about 765 grams of sugar every five days.  In fact, that’s a 17-fold increase.  However, most people are unaware of the serious dangers that arise from this drastic increase.

To put it in perspective, in the 1820’s the Americans consumed less than 20 pounds of sugar each year.  Once again, let’s fast forward to 2012.  Furthermore, we now consume over 130 pounds of sugar per year.  Worried yet?  In your life time you’ll eat about 3550 pounds of sugar.  That adds up to about 1,767,900 skittles.  To make matters worse, the American Heart Association recommends a maximum intake of 9.5 teaspoons of sugar per day.  Meanwhile, the average adult eats about 22 teaspoons per day while the average child eats about 32 teaspoons per day.  Lastly, Forbes reports that sugar is just as addictive as cocaine.

Sugar Causes Disease

Like cocaine, sugar can lead to a host of health problems.  Unfortunately, these problems are quite serious.  In fact they include obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease, depression, fatigue, chronic pain, skin problems, hardened arteries, violent behavior, nervous tension, mental disorders, acne, and much much more.  To make matters worse, high fructose corn syrup is the worst kind, and food manufacturers hide HFCS in your food.

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition & Chiropractic, we can help your body recover from sugar overload.  Just how do we achieve this?  We implement specific customized dietary changes, and the right enzyme supplements based on your test results. Of course our testing is scientific and based on sound medical principals. We can even design an exercise program just for you.
