Healing Takes Time

Healing Takes Time.  You’re driving down the road.  All of a sudden, the check engine light comes on.  Of course, the first thing you do is make sure you can make it home.  Or, perhaps you pull over and find a mechanic nearby.  Alternatively, you may even call a tow truck.  Would you think of disabling the check engine light?  Of course not.  However, many Americans like you take this approach every day with your health.

Healing Takes Time.  All too often, a relatively new patient leaves my office because “they’re not getting better fast enough.”  Many times, this is usually after only one or two visits.  Additionally, it doesn’t seem to matter if the patient came for chiropractic care, enzyme nutrition, or even both.  Instead, they will often seek pain medication from their primary care physician.  While this medication has its place, it only covers the symptoms.  Sadly, it provides no healing whatsoever.  In fact, let me give you an example.

Let’s say you’re driving in your care.  All of a sudden, the check engine light comes on, and perhaps your car’s computer chimes that there’s something wrong.  Once this happens, what’s the first thing on your mind?  In fact, how many of you think of disabling the light and the chime as a solution?  Conversely, how many of you start to think about getting to the nearest repair shop?

Disabling the “Check Engine Light” in our Body

Sadly, many Americans take the first approach when it comes to our health.  Instead of trying to fix the underlying cause, many Americans cover up the cause with pain medications.  Unfortunately, that’s just like disabling the “check engine” light in your car.  In a society focused on instant satisfaction, few realize that healing the underlying cause actually takes time.  Unfortunately, few even “pop the hood” to see what’s wrong.  In fact, this is why the opioid epidemic is such a problem in America.

Before I continue, I do understand that there’s a fundamental difference between your car and your body.  Your body hurts and your car doesn’t.  In fact, your body still needs sleep so you can heal.  Furthermore, you can’t sleep if you’re in pain.  As a result, pain medication has its place for short term relief.  Meanwhile, it’s just as important to find and treat the underlying cause of the problem while you’re dealing with the symptom.  However, this healing takes time, and we live in a society that is not willing to wait.

How Long Does it Take?

If healing takes time, just how long does it take?  The medical community will tell you four to six weeks for one condition, six to eight weeks for some other condition etc.  In fact, here’s a list.  However, you need to remember these are AVERAGES.  These figures do not consider the key factors.  In fact, here they are.  How long has the problem been there?  The longer you suffer from the problem the longer it takes to heal.  Secondly, how severe is the problem.  Once again, the greater the severity, the longer it takes.  Lastly, how old is the patient?  Let’s face it, as we age, our ability to heal declines.  This can also impact the healing process.

Teamwork for a Complete Approach

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition & Chiropractic we can work alongside your medical staff.  While they are providing you with immediate relief, we can help your body heal itself properly from the stress that caused the problem.  Our doctor has several possible solutions.  We can use low force or traditional chiropractic care to help your bones muscles and nerves work properly, and heal from injury.  Additionally, we will provide customized rehabilitative exercises to further strengthen and stabilize injured areas.  Massage therapy can help break up adhesions and scar tissue to increase blood flow and promote healing.  Lastly, enzyme nutrition can scientifically find the source of nutritional stress in your body, and help those stressed organs work properly.  As I stated earlier, this healing takes time.

Enzymes work with Medicine

Enzymes work with Medicine.  In a world where medical health and natural health butt heads, there is a place for both.  In fact, many health problems benefit from natural health working together with medical care.

Enzymes work with Medicine.  Let’s say you’re riding your bike.  All of a sudden, you hit a deep pot hole you didn’t notice.  The bike comes crashing down and you break your arm.  Now what?  Is it time to go buy some supplements?  Maybe you should get your spine adjusted.  Of course, the obvious answer is the right one.  Call 911 and get to the E.R.

Remember that a broken bone is a medical emergency requiring medical intervention.  When you get to the hospital, doctors will x-ray your arm and give you pain medicine for pain and swelling.  If appropriate they will also set the bone.  Once the emergency care is complete, these doctors will refer you to an orthopedist who will determine what type of care is necessary.  Do you need a cast, pins and screws, or does your situation require surgery?  He or she will then perform the necessary procedure.

The “Side Effects”

Now you’re walking around with your arm in a sling.  You’re also taking pain medications and anti inflammatory meds.  This is where natural care can work together with your medical treatment.  In fact, here’s how…

First the right diet and enzyme supplements can help your body heal the broken bones properly.  Additionally, other enzyme supplements can help your body properly reduce inflammation.  Lastly, while they are necessary, the medicine you took put stress on your liver, kidneys, and/or digestive system.  The right enzyme supplements can help your body cleanse itself from these harmful toxins.

We’re Part of the Team

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition, we will work along side your medical team to help you restore your health safely, naturally and effectively.  In fact, we may even use diagnostic imaging or lab tests ordered by your medical team.  In fact, we can even call them on the phone or send correspondence if we need to coordinate your care.

Would you like to know how we can support a healthy healing process in your body?  If so, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. Enzymes help Injuries too

Enzymes help Injuries too.  Often, when I am giving a lecture somewhere, someone asks the following question.  “Yeah, but doc, how can enzymes help with an auto accident or broken bone?”  While enzymes are not a substitute for emergency care, they can help in three key areas while the medical staff does what they do best.

Enzymes help Injuries too.  For starters, let’s take the example of a broken bone.  Let’s say you fell off your bicycle and accidentally broke your arm.  Before I get into enzyme nutrition let me explain that a broken arm is a medical emergency.  In fact, the first thing you need to do is get to the Emergency Room, preferably by ambulance.  There you will receive X-Rays to figure out what bone you broke, and the type of break.  Then an orthopedic doctor will likely set it.  Afterwards they will either cast it, pin it, or operate on it depending on many factors.  Additionally, they may give you pain killers and anti-inflammatory meds.

A Medical Crisis

Remember that a broken bone is a crisis.  As a result, it requires crisis intervention.  Fortunately, America’s medical staff does an amazing job at crisis care.  In fact, in my opinion, nobody does it better.  So why would a natural health care provider like myself want to compete with that?  Especially since that is not where the bulk of my training lies.  Instead, I would rather use effective tools like enzyme nutrition to help your body heal your bones properly, and perhaps help your body detoxify after you get off your meds.  Additionally, I may use traditional or low force spinal corrections to re-balance your arms and spine after you’re healed.  In fact, let me explain…

How Enzyme Help Injuries

You see once your medical doctor sets the bone, and casts, pins or screws it back together, the broken pieces have to join back together.  The right enzyme supplements can support health bone healing and repair.  In fact, research shows enzymes help injuries heal.  Other enzymes can help your body and medication properly manage inflammation levels.   Additionally, while the meds you took were absolutely necessary, they put toxic stress on your liver and/or kidneys.  In this case, the right enzyme supplements can help your body cleanse itself from these toxins.

Your Body Compensates

Additionally, what happens to your shoulders, spine and other arm while the injured arm is in a sling?  In this case, the right chiropractic care can help re-balance your body once you’ve healed.

Once again I need to be clear that physical trauma is a medical emergency.  As a result, it requires medical intervention.  However, we can support your body’s ability to heal and detox during and after your medical treatment using the right combination of dietary changes, enzyme supplements, and traditional or low for adjustments when it’s safe and appropriate.

Shin Pain and Nutrition

Chronic Shin Pain and Nutrition.  Do you suffer from chronic shin pain?  Have you tried PT, orthotics and chiropractic without success?  All of these are great therapies when your problem stems from physical stress.  But what if your problem was nutritional in nature?

Shin Pain and Nutrition – When most people have pain in their calf, they usually seek orthotics, PT, or even chiropractic care.   As long as your problem is physical in nature, all of these are wonderful interventions.  Common physical causes included constant stress from work, or exercises, injuries or imbalances from stress or surgery.  In fact, the most common physical shin injury is called “shin splints”.  But what if your pain keeps coming back?  This may be a sign your calf pain may come from nutritional problems.

In fact, here are some signs that your calf pain may come from nutritional problems…

  • Limited ankle movement, especially when pointing the toes down
  • Deep bone or join pain
  • Painful or weak teeth
  • Swollen feet or ankles
  • Recent trauma, accident or injury
  • Frequent infections

How to Tell

Often times this can be a sign that your body has difficulty processing and using proteins for tissue repair.    If you are eating enough of these essential nutrients, it may be your body has trouble digesting, absorbing or using these precious vitamins and minerals.  It’s important to remember that your body needs enzymes in order to digest, absorb and use protein.  It’s also important to remember that vitamins are only co-enzymes.  In fact, they cannot do their job without the right enzymes in place.

OK, I know what you’re thinking.  How can I tell the difference?  At Redmond Ridge Nutrition, we can perform objective tests based on sound medical principals to find where the actual source of stress exists.  Once we figure that out we can put a plan in place to make sure your body gets the vital nutrition it needs.  In addition, we can help your body properly digest, absorb and use those precious building blocks to health.

If your problem is mechanical in nature the right combination of chiropractic care, orthotics and home exercises may be the key.  We can help with that too.
