Green Tea, A Healthy Alternative to Coffee. However, did you know that according to multiple studies that span decades, experts have linked coffee to many serious illnesses? Sadly, these problems include type 2 diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure, stroke, and chronic inflammation. Additionally, chronic inflammation can lead to vascular problems, asthma, osteoporosis, arthritis, auto immune diseases, chronic pain, chronic fatigue, depression, & anxiety. However, it also causes infertility, insomnia, digestive problems, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and many more!
Before I continue, let me tell you a little secret about coffee. Did you know that our national drink wasn’t coffee? In fact, do you know what it was? Well, our national drink was actually tea. Coffee didn’t take over until the early 1900’s. At that time, companies hired social psychologists to create tricky marketing campaigns. Fortunately, the law currently prohibits this practice. However, at that time, a small coffee company came up with a very effective ad slogan. In fact, a group of social psychologists came up with the slogan. Can you guess the slogan? It was “good to the last drop.”
Switch to Tea
Now, back to tea. While green tea does contain caffeine, it also has many benefits. These benefits include antioxidants which help your body keep cancer at bay. Other key ingredients include quercetin, which helps your body avoid allergies. Conversely, green tea helps alkalize your body. This helps your body support healthy bone density. Additionally, an alkaline body ph also helps you keep cancer at bay. On top of that, green tea also helps your body reduce inflammation, not increase it. So, do you remember all of those problems I mentioned above? Green tea can help your body prevent these issues. Conversely, coffee adds fuel to the fire. That is, coffee contributes to the problem.
How we Help
In fact, when I work with my nutrition patients, one of my biggest tasks involves coffee elimination. The good news is that many coffee shops also sell high quality tea. In fact, one popular national chain based in Seattle uses a very high quality matcha. So, if you’re going out to the coffee shop with your friends, you have healthy alternatives available.
At Redmond Ridge Nutrition & Chiropractic, we help your body work properly to reduce the likelihood of chronic inflammation, which leads to chronic disease. We accomplish this using the right enzyme supplements, and dietary changes designed to teach you how to eat to your personal genetic strengths.
