Gall bladder health and energy. Perhaps the easiest way to explain how the gall bladder works is with the old oil and water example. I’m sure you all know what happens when you try to mix oil and water, right? Take a jar and fill it half way with water, and the rest of the way with cooking oil. Now close the jar and feel free to shake it up all you like. Of course the minute you stop shaking it the oil and water separate almost immediately. As it turns out, you have the same problem in your body. Your blood stream and most of the fluid systems in your body are water based. But fat, which is a necessary dietary nutrient, is oil based. So how can you dissolve this fat into water? And yes this even includes the ever so precious omega three fatty acids.
Gall Bladder, Bile and Health
As it turns out, your liver and gall bladder solve this problem. The liver makes a thick fluid called bile, and the gall bladder stores it. When you eat fats, your pancreas releases digestive enzymes, called lipase. Lipase breaks down these fats for proper digestion and absorption. But lipase cannot penetrate these fatty oils without proper preparation. In order to break down these precious fats, the gall bladder releases bile. Bile emulsifies fats and oils so that lipase can penetrate these oils to ensure proper digestion.
When looking at dietary health, it’s important to remember that fats are a necessary part of your diet. In fact your body needs them for energy, for hormones production, (including reproductive hormones), and for healthy brain function. And that’s just naming a few. If you no longer have your gall bladder, or it doesn’t working properly, it can cause variety of health problems. Here are some early signs of gall bladder problems:
History of gallbladder stones or surgery.
Loss of appetite, especially for meat.
Frequent sour taste in the mouth.
Infrequent bowel movements (constipation).
A light-colored stool.
Gas, bloating, and abdominal discomfort or soreness after eating

Supplemental enzymes from a plant source are the most effective way to support healthy digestive function. In fact, aromatic herbs can also support healthy liver and bile function. These are herbs that have a fragrant smell and an agreeable, pungent taste. Turmeric and ginger root as well as cinnamon bark are time-honored favorites. Also, the use of fennel seed dates back to the glory days of Rome, and lecithin is an excellent emulsifier (Dr. Howard Loomis). Of course these plants only help with the right enzymes in place.
Finding the source of stress
Fortunately, there is a solution. In fact, this is where enzyme nutrition comes in. Enzyme nutrition uses sound scientific principles to identify the actually source of stress. Secondly it seeks to help the stressed organs and tissues work better through a careful combination of dietary changes and enzyme supplements. This includes nutritional support for healthy liver and gall bladder function.
