Chiropractic Care and Asthma.  According to the American Lung Association, Asthma is a lung disease that makes it harder to move air in and out of your lungs.  In fact, asthma is chronic. In other words, you live with it every day.  Sadly, asthma can be serious, and even life threatening.  Unfortunately, there is no cure for asthma, but it can be managed so you live a normal, healthy life.

With asthma, the airways in your lungs are often inflamed. This swelling makes your lungs more sensitive to “triggers.”  A trigger could be a cold or the weather, or even things such as dust, chemicals, smoke and pet dander.  When you breathe in a trigger, your airways swell even more. This narrows the space for the air to move in and out of the lungs. The muscles that wrap around your airways also can tighten, making breathing even harder. When that happens, it’s called an asthma “attack.”  In fact, this asthma attack is an allergic reaction to a trigger.  So, if you suffer from asthma, your immune system is overactive.

Chiropractic Care and Asthma – Research

According to the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association (ICPA), there are 22 research publications regarding chiropractic and children with asthma.  In fact, the research shows strong evidence that chiropractic helps children who suffer from asthma.  However, I want to be clear that chiropractic care is not a substitution for an emergency inhaler.  However, there are cases where chiropractic care eliminated the need for an inhaler.

At Redmond Ridge Nutrition & Chiropractic we take a multistep approach to asthma.  First our precise pediatric chiropractic techniques may help reduce asthma attacks.  Together with the right enzyme supplements to support healthy lung and immune function.  Of course, we only recommend treatment and supplements after testing that is based on sound medical principals.  Dr. Marrone is highly skilled in pediatric chiropractic.  As a matter of fact, Dr. Marrone’s pediatric chiropractic professor was the president of the ICPA at the time.
