Obesity Causes Low Back Pain.  Obesity is on the rise in the United States.  Sadly, its growth continues to increase at an alarming rate.  Unfortunately, so is our opioid crisis.  Is there a connection?  As a matter of fact, research from 2018 shows a clear connection between back pain and obesity.  If this pain gets bad enough, some sufferers may turn to opioid medication for pain relief.  However, there is another solution.

In May of 2018, JMPT published research demonstrating the connection between obesity and low back pain.  In fact, the study concluded the following.  “Overweight and obesity were associated with increased odds of low back pain.”

Unfortunately, this can create a viscous cycle.  Sadly, as you gain wait, you feel more pain.  To make matters worse, as you feel more pain, you exercise less because of that pain.  As time goes on, the cycle continues until it spins out of control. Later on in life, you go to the doctor only to find out you’re suffering from all of the complications obesity causes.  These problems include diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and many more.  Conversely, the key is to take care of this problem long before these problems arise.
