healthy gut for a healthy brain
Healthy Brain

Healhty Brain- Who would have thought the health of your gut has a huge impact on brain health?  Exciting new research shows a two way connection between the brain and the gut.  This connection is called the Enteric Nervous System (ENS).  It is also called the Gut Brain Axis (GBA).  This axis is critical for brain health.  Researchers once believed this communication was only one way.  I.E.  It was from the brain to the gut.  But more and more scientists are confirming that the connection is two ways.  Furthermore, the research continues to prove that gut health is critical to brain health.

This research shows gut health is vital for the production of crucial brain chemicals.  These chemicals include serotonin, dopamine and tryptophan.  They are required for energy, memory, movement and focus.  The key factor is a healthy intestinal flora.  Unfortunately, S.A.D compromises this flora.  What’s S.A.D.?  It’s The Standard American Diet. And yes, it is VERY sad.        Further research shows that infants with a healthy intestinal flora have 70% fewer learning and developmental problems.  The children in this study were followed from infancy to adolescence.  There is also a reduction in depression, Parkinson’s disease and Memory Loss in older adults.
