Listen to our radio podcast on the troubles with diagnosing disease.

Have you ever visited doctor after doctor trying to figure out what’s wrong with you without any real answers?  Perhaps you underwent a battery of tests only to find out all of your values are normal.   What do you do then?  How do you fix a problem when none of the “experts” no what’s wrong?

When you suffer from an actual disease, medical doctors are an invaluable resource to diagnosing and treating that ailment.  However, when your health problems are due to sub-clinical stress, and your tests don’t “add up” to a specific disease, medical doctors fall short.

When Diagnosing Disease Doesn’t Work

When this happens, where do you turn?  In this episode of Dr. Andy’s Wellness Corner, Dr. Andy talks about the difference between treating disease, and finding stress in the body and helping those stressed parts work properly.

New Years Resolutions
New Years Resolutions

2019 is already here and I know what you’re thinking.  It’s time to set those new years resolutions.  But let’s be honest.  Do you remember the ones you set last year?  Did you achieve any of them?  If you did, chances are you had a plan in place.  If you didn’t, allow me to teach you how to do it in a way that is effective.  So yes, forget those new years resolutions.  And by the way, I’m applying this to health and wellness but you can apply it to any aspect of your life.

Step 1: Dream Big

The first thing to do is figure out what you want to accomplish.  Go ahead and dream.  If there were no rules and you could not fail, what does it mean to achieve ideal health?  It’s best if you write it down.  Really take some time on this step.  Everything we do from this point forward hinges on this step.

Step 2: Turn Dreams into Goals

Next turn each dream into a realistic goal.  Again it’s best to write them down.  Now go through each goal one by one and ask yourself – how important is this goal?  Start to prioritize each goal or dream.  After that, start to write down the action steps necessary to accomplish each goal.  Lastly, put those action steps on your calendar.  Make sure you’re being realistic.

Additionally, as the year goes by look at your calendar in advance.  This will allow you to plan so you have the best chance of achieving your action steps.  So what happens if you miss one of your milestones?  The first key is NOT TO FRET.  The first question to ask yourself is “is this goal still really important?”  If so, put a new time line around it without being judgmental.    Now all you have to continue this throughout the year and you’re all set!

Men and Health Care: Ever wonder when men or much less reluctant to go to the doctor than women?  In this breakthrough episode of Dr. Andy’s Wellness Corner your host reports on research that reveals the top reasons why men won’t go to the doctor.  While some of the reasons are obvious, others will surprise you.

As always Dr. Andy always addresses listener questions with research based-answers, or answers that are based on sound scientific and medical principles.  While we all know prevention an d wellness are the keys to health, very few people take action to eat right, think positively and exercise and move in a healthy way.

In many cases this can keep chronic disease from plaguing your life.  This is particularly true for men and health care.  Guys, if you don’t like going to the doctor, make sure you take good care of yourself and have a good coach.  In fact, enzyme nutrition can help.  Why?

Enzymes and Wellness

Because enzyme nutrition can help your body use the valuable nutrients from your food properly.  When your body uses your fuel properly, you are less likely to have stress.  In turn, stress is the leading cause of chronic disease.  Sadly, our ability to make our own enzymes diminishes 70% by age 40.  On top of that, cooking or freezing your food destroys the food in the enzymes.

While we’re on the subject, if you’re concerned about heartburn, you can contact us one of several ways to set up a consultation. In fact, you can reach us on the web, stop by our office in Redmond, WA, or call us at 425-868-0120.  While I don’t treat acid reflux, GERD, or heartburn, I can help your stomach work properly with the right enzyme supplements and dietary changes.
