According to the CDC, anxiety and depression are on the rise in the U.S.. They are also on the rise right here at home in WA State. Many people turn to medication to manage their condition for them. Others turn to therapy. Some even combine the two. Very few, however, turn to nutrition. Anxiety and Depression can be signs of dietary stress.
Anxiety can be associated with depletion of two key nutrients. They are calcium and protein. Alternatively, depression can be the result of eating too many carbohydrates. This is especially true of simple carbohydrates. There are two main causes. First, due to dietary intake. Second, due to the inability to process these vital nutrients.
Remember that brain chemicals responsible for both mood and energy. They are activated in the gut. This is done through the gut brain axis. As a result, an unhealthy gut can severely hinder the activation of these vital brain chemicals. The materials needed to activate them are, of course, enzymes.
The Natural Approach
If you suffer from Anxiety, try reducing your intake of simple carbs. Do you suffer from depression? If so, try increasing your intake of protein and calcium. In either case, therapy is always recommended. Remember that neither dietary changes nor enzymes can diagnose or treat disease. They can, however, promote healthy function of chemicals responsible for better mood.
