Enzymes help Asthma.  According to the CDC, asthma affected over 26 and a half million Americans in 2010.  According to the Asthma foundation it has been on the rise since the 1970’s.    That’s about 17% of Americans, or one in 5 or 6.  That’s also about a 25% increase since 2001.  It is projected to increase by over 30% by 2030.

Sadly, modern medicine can only manage the symptoms, or respond to an attack.  Now I’m not understating the importance of that.  An asthma attack can be lethal, so when it flares up, intervention can save your life.  As always, I am very grateful for modern medicine’s ability to handle crisis care.  However, that seems to be all they can do.

Asthma is An Allergic Attack

Asthma is basically your body’s immune system overreacting to an allergen.  When this happens, certain immune cells go into overdrive.  This leads to inflammation, and constriction of the airways in the lungs making breathing very difficult.  It can also worsen with exertion.  In fact 3 out of 5 asthma sufferers are forced to limit their physical activity because it could risk a serious flare up.  Additionally, nearly 1 in 2 children miss at least a day of school each year because of their asthma. And nearly 1 in 3 adults miss at least 1 day of work each year because of their asthma. Asthma also interferes with your daily activities:  as I said earlier, nearly 3 in 5 people with asthma limit their usual activities because of their condition.

How Enzymes Help Asthma

However, researchers at Johns Hopkins showed subjects missing a specific enzyme had T cells that were out of control.  These specific T cells are part of your immune system.  When they’re out of control they can cause an asthma attack.  This enzyme, SGK1, keeps those T cells under control.  As a side note, subjects in the study also developed fewer tumors.  This shows that the same enzyme may be helpful in the treatment of certain types of cancer.  Of course what the medical community wants to do is mimic this behavior with a drug, rather than supply the enzyme to a patient who is deficient.  However, it’s nice to see the medical community validating my work.

Our Approach to Respiratory Health

It’s important to remember that I don’t treat any disease.  This, of course, includes asthma.  However, we can support healthy function of your liver, immune system, skin and kidneys.  We can also support healthy digestion.  Now I know what you’re thinking, what do these have to do with asthma?  When your immune system overreacts, it’s because there’s something in your body that shouldn’t be there.

The Body’s Filters

Just what keeps them out?  Your body has three main “filters”, which are your liver, kidneys and skin.  It’s also important to look at digestive health because there are only two ways into the liver.  They are through digestion or from the blood stream.  There are also numerous studies showing chiropractic care helpful in support for healthy breathing.   Once specific testing identifies the source of stress, we use a combination of specific chiropractic care, dietary changes, and the right enzyme supplements to help your body work properly.  Of course a properly working body doesn’t suffer from health problems like asthma (but again, I don’t treat asthma).

Are you concerned about respiratory health or immune health?  Does it affect your work, family life or active lifestyle?  If so, give us a call and set up a consultation.  I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life.  I will even do some preliminary testing as well as Bio Impedance Analysis, which is trusted by both NASA and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.  This will help me determine if you are a good candidate for care.  If you’re not, we’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.

DAWC039 Arthritis Joint Health

Arthritis Joint Health

Arthritis Joint Health – Don’t miss this amazing episode on arthritis.  Your host, Andy Marrone, D.C. goes over the most common types of arthritis.  Of course, this includes cause, symptoms and common medical treatments.  Did you know there are over 100 types of arthritis?  While simple wear and tear causes some of them, others have far more sinister origins.  These include autoimmune problems as well as an overactive inflammatory response.

Dr. Andy also covers how enzyme nutrition can help support healthy joint function and repair.  Furthermore, he delves into the key to joint health, immune health and swelling control.  He also covers the three filters of the body.  Of course this includes how they play a vital role in immune system health.

He also goes over a case study showing an elderly woman was able to cease her medication thanks to chiropractic care.  The women suffered from Rheumatoid arthritis.  The research also explains why chiropractic care worked for this patient.

Lastly he talks about some controversial news regarding fibromyalgia.  While fibro is an autoimmune disease, and an inflammatory disease, it is not a form of arthritis.  However, some medical web sites are stating that it is, although the Merck manual has not classified it as arthritis.

Lastly he ends the show by answering a listener’s email about PMS and water retention.

Chiropractic helps with rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease where the body’s immune system attacks your joints.  The hallmark of disease is chronic inflammation.  Over time, it actually destroys joints, tissues and organs. A recent study published in the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research shows how chiropractic care showed outstanding results in a woman with long-term rheumatoid arthritis.

An elderly old woman went to see a chiropractor after suffering from rheumatoid arthritis for over seven years. She complained of severe joint pain, especially in the hands and fingers. She also complained of swelling in her hands, fingers, knees, toes and feet. Her pain and swelling were so bad that she had difficulties with just getting around.  Every morning she woke up incredibly stiff every morning. In fact, she was taking several strong drugs just to manage her symptoms. She described her pain severe all the time.

The doctor performed an extensive evaluation including posture evaluation, physical exam and x-ray imaging. The treating doctor found subluxations throughout the spine, especially in the upper neck area. X-rays also showed a loss in the curve of the neck.  As a result of this decreased curve,  a forward head shift was another clinical feature.

Research shows that forward head posture can add a significant amount of abnormal stress pulling the entire spine out of alignment.  This can also restrict normal breathing. In fact, this sort of posture problem can cause a loss of 30 percent of vital lung capacity. When this occurs, your body gets less oxygen which can affect your immune system.

Subluxation is the term for problems in the spine that interrupt nerve pathways.  This, in turn affects the organs and systems of the body impacting your overall health. Causes include any type of physical, emotional, or nutritional stress.  This stress affects nerve function, which leads poor immune function, and increased inflammation.

Subluxation causes Swelling

Chronic inflammatory based disease processes are influenced by several systems.  These include the nervous, endocrine and immune systems. In fact, nerve stimulation is essential for the growth, function and control of inflammatory cells. Researchers have noted that abnormal neurological control results in the development of various auto-immune based inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.

Are you concerned about your joint health?  Does your ailment affect your work, family life or active lifestyle?  Would you like to support a healthy body safely, naturally and effectively?  Would you like to avoid drugs or surgery?  If so, give us a call and set up a consultation.  I will personally sit down with you and talk about your suffering and how it affects your life.  I will even do some preliminary testing as well as Bio Impedance Analysis, which is trusted by both NASA and Cancer Treatment Centers of America.  This will help me determine if you are a good candidate for care.  If you’re not, we’ll make every effort to provide the proper referral.

Adult Onset Allergies
Learn how Adult Onset Allergies may spell liver trouble

Adult Onset Allergies. There has been a steep rise in cases of asthma and allergies in the U.S. over the past few decades. Why?  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about one in 12 people in the U.S. have allergies, or about 25 million people. And the rate appears to be on the rise. From 2001 to 2011, the CDC says the number of Americans with allergies grew by 28 percent. (HealthLine Web Site).  Unfortunately many health care professionals look to suppress your immune system to treat your allergy symptoms.  In this article, I’ll go into why this treatment only targets the symptoms, rather than the cause of the problem.

While your allergies are the result of an overactive immune system, often times the cause lies much further “upstream”.  Also, it’s important to point out that if you were born with certain allergies, that’s a completely different story.  This article deals with allergies acquired later in life; i.e. adult onset allergies (or adolescent).

How it Starts

So where does it all start?  Often times, it all starts in the liver.  In fact, your liver acts like a filter straining out toxins from the blood.  This of course keeps your blood clean and healthy.  But what happens if the liver gets overloaded and can’t keep up with demand?  Sadly, due to the Standard American Diet, that’s too true way too often.  Now these harmful toxins back up into the blood stream.  Unfortunately your body knows they’re not supposed to be there.  So what does it do?  It uses the immune system to attack them.  And this is what causes your allergy symptoms.  The common medical approach is to block the immune system cells responsible for that attack.  Can you see why this only patches the symptoms?

Our Approach to Healthy Liver and Immune support

Fortunately, there is a solution to helping both your liver and immune system work properly.  In fact that’s exactly what enzyme nutrition does.  Through scientific testing based on sound medical principles, our testing will identify the source of stress in the body.  Then with a precise combination of gradual dietary changes and enzyme supplements we can support the healthy function of that organ.  In this case that may end up being the liver, and/or the immune system.

Are you concerned about your liver or immune health?  Does your condition affect your work, play or family?  Would you like a more active lifestyle?  Or perhaps you’re worried about a loved one.  Give us a call and set up a consultation.  Let us help your body work properly by finding and addressing the source of stress.  In fact, we will take the time to sit down and talk with you about your suffering.  We will even do some preliminary testing to determine if you are a good candidate for care.
