Do you suffer from chronic neck pain?  Do you often seek physical treatments that only provide temporary relief?  While physical injury can cause neck pain, there is another possibility.  What if I told you that nutritional stress can lead to chronic neck pain?  This is especially true if you feel it right at the base of the skull in the back of the head.

Chronic pain in this area of the neck can be a sign that your sympathetic nervous system (SNS) is under stress.  The SNS is the part of your nervous system that controls fight or flight.  Not only does it help you respond to emergency situations, but it also provides energy during exercise or strenuous work.

In the stressful world we live in, our SNS is overworked.  The SNS requires rest and alkaline minerals to maintain health and balance.  Lack of sleep, poor nutrition and incompetent digestion are key factors in SNS health.  Side effects can include:

  • Type A Personality
  • Stiff Joints
  • Constipation
  • Headaches in the back of the head or neck

If this sounds like you, try increasing your intake of magnesium and potassium.  Also try getting more sleep at night, or taking naps during the day.
